Design in a creative way involves a high degree of enigmatic and mystery especially at the early stage of a project. On the whole, conventional industrial design investigation faced with numerous of dilemma especially on the design methodology. The unclear design approach practiced among the creatlve designers comes to the techmcal hitches to introduce a new product design. The challenge of current trends In design research and point out some of their acxivities, such as the gap between aesthetic and technical need, and the chasm between ambiguous and quantified m design practice, In line with the awareness of high-quality aesthetic appeal in industrial product development, therefore, exist a need to revamp this uncertainty design activity (form stmcturing) for more accurate and being understood during the decision making in product synthesis. This used together with the enhanced understanding and ability to handle Visual product form, necessitate stmcturing throughout the creatlve process, In order to deal with these problems, it is recommended to develop a research guideline on the observafiun setup procedure. These promlses to improve the ecological validity over the empirical design research methodology include the possible sampling required. The main goal of the analyzes is to formulate a methodology for analyzing qualitanvc data in an objective way. The design practice was analyzed through empirical design studies to uncovcr the design thinking approaches and their standpoint on design solutions throughout formgiving process. The results also discussed the solution to both initial problems of de51gn activitles. Through the empirical framework of in-Vitm deslgn protocol, a descriptive model of the nature and workings of the ablution design as a subject is identified. The framework consists of two main control experiment phases; design protocol analyIs, concerning the behaviour of designer during design episode; and meta-analysis, related to the characterizing stage of form syntactic related to the actiVIty of organization and structure of visual product form. The result ‘hrough circumstantial evidence from both approaches reveaied that [here is a consistency character that emerge the pruduct perceptual experience during formgiving processes. The insight seeking and form element ordering during design episode has exposed the divergentconvergent ofAblution Function Mean Analysis thinking among designer generates a significant visual surface features of the form structure. Based on the mam-analysis results, the formgiving presentation confirmed ‘he intuition conceptually presented a strategic plan of aesthetic influence through the conceptual and embodiment design, While the representation of syntactic pattem through Dual-Trace Explicit Implicit has aesthetically determined the cxistmg of intuitive gestalt interplay during the creation of form structure. As the main contribution of this work is: (l) the creation of core empirical method relates to rexearchfar design as 'possible versus feasiblc’ through explicit-implicit strategy; (2) conducted research relates to research into design as ‘specific Versus hulistic’ through the determination of talent, intuition and form syntactic; and (3) presented research relates research through design as ‘global versus detailed' through the establishment of Variables between design perceptual and behaviour

It is hard to identify the local Malay identity in a design context compared to other cultural oriented design in several countries. This paper tries to uncover how designers interpret local identity embodied agent based on local items influences and understood and the influence of incremental, radical design that changes respective to preceding designs. A descriptive study through the literature reviews focusses on a type of artefact initiated through cultural-oriented design. Based on the preliminary study, a sampling taken from the Chinese, Indian, Japanese or European consistently apply the same fundamental understanding in regards to the culture-oriented design. From the same point of view, teapot seems to be used as one of the dominant artefact indicating the design preferences. This research will benefit both the academia and the industry and identify significant identity based on the local context and become an embodied agent to give impact in establishing  the state-of-the-art of brand, the identity of local design, establish new trademark towards generating domestic, international economy and promote the nation worldwide throughout design platform

Designing Product Gestalt: Semiotic and semantic influences of ablution development

    Get PDF
Product gestalt is a way of thought explaining how the designer's brain perceives design in its immediate development process and environment. Any endeavor to create product gestalt requires aesthetic, technical, including the chasm and fuzzy design approach. This paper thus attempts to provide a usable direction to researcher discuss fundamental demands on structuring a new concept with the design principles and monitoring used for concept resolution strategy. The organization of design gestalt is based on the correlated ablution sub-function with semantic and semiotic representation. It is a principle in exploring several concept developments with possible configurations of ablution prototypes. This research explores the humanoid facial design through Eyes-Mouth Features (EMF) as an indication of human embodied consciousness design. The study will be focused on portraying the practical model based on the syntax context focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) based design development. This design integrates the value of appealing sensations that can trigger the feelings and impressions of the child with ASD. It is critical to developing an effective decision support system for designers to deal with challenges relating to consumers' psychological preferences towards a humanoid facial character that appeals to human emotion. Kitchenware Development: Strategizing blind user-designer experience design activities

Concept Development from research, the blind relies heavily on sensory references like touch to make a spatial judgment – the lack of such often results in accidents. Thus, the solutions physicalize tactile cues, which they can rely on for the next step in the cooking process. Existing solutions in the market are often function-focused, with little attention paid to usability. Product utility is foreign and unnatural to the blind as it contrasts with their prior memory of performing a task. Therefore, this research study is to strategize the Blind User-Designer experience through design activities. This paper was initiated based on the conceptual framework of Ablution Function Mean Analysis relating to a phenomenon that impacts designer perception in developing new product development for religious-based design. Empirical observation of user-designer exploring the convergent process of ablution design development was set up. The ablution performed, the perceptions verbalized, and the different design principles targeted were analyzed from a qualitative and a quantitative point of view. This study's data were first measured to obtain an appreciation of Muslims performing ablution behaviour. The study focused on the product gestalt, recognising the design act of divergent and convergent transpires in a real context, and identifying the spontaneous control reflection that influences the resulting product perception. This paper purposely to understand the relationship between reference materials and form the embodiment process illustrated in the design drawing sketch. To review the respondent’s design thinking characteristic and to surmise the scenario of the product development issue, a design protocol analysis put in place as a core method. Respondent behaviour throughout the design activities was recorded and analyzed through interaction design embodiment process. Analysing design activities and drawing sketch has produced some pattern which states the meaning of average design element, selected reference material, interaction behaviour, and the design process in a control situation. Haptic communication through pictorial art remains an argumentative subject of aesthetic experience, with many unresolved issues until today that questioning the how and why reactions of various people. Throughout this framework of research, a conceptual examination of experiencing a pictorial work of art (its duration, intensity, and individual art expression) for a congenitally blind person by applying Verbal Protocol Analysis (VPA) approach model was designed to enhance the experience from an artwork. This study provides an observation procedure within the influence of 'time of experience' and 'art expression' mediated by professional artwork. The humanoid robot has been used in part of the intervention programme for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Some studies address what kind of form and functionality a human-like robot should have to be socially accepted by them as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) children's motivation faces complex challenges.  This research aims to study the specific factor, problems and connection elements between the contexts of issues related to the interpretation of humanoid design toward ASD learning abilities. All the studied variables identified from the literature of recent theory models were summarized and arranged accordingly to form the conceptual framework. This paper discusses the Malaysia Keris design within the scope of the presence of the Fibonacci sequence component in design related to the art elements and design principles, which make it stand as an iconic item to symbolise Malaysian identity. The existing literature emphasised on the philosophical part of it. Using tool or instrument, of form analysis based on Fibonacci sequence spiral, has mapped the DNA of the design. The empirical findings show that the existence of Fibonacci sequences is significant in Malaysian keris design. Moreover, ‘emphasis’ has given the distribution of the visual weight of objects and value. Keywords: Elements of art; Fibonacci sequence; Keris; Principles of design eISSN: 2398-4287© 2020.
